What BBL is

One light source, filtered for your exact target

Broadband light isn't a laser, and that's the point. We tune it to the thing we're treating.

BBL stands for BroadBand Light. A laser commits to a single wavelength; BBL delivers a broad band of light that we filter for the target and for your skin type. Brown pigment calls for one setting, a visible vessel another. It runs on the Sciton Joule, the platform behind all of our laser treatments.

Where the light lands, it becomes heat. In a sun spot, that heat breaks the pigment apart so your body can clear it. In a broken capillary, it breaks down the vessel that's causing the redness. And the warmth itself signals your skin to produce collagen, which is why texture and fine lines keep improving over a series, well after the spots have shed.

In a plan, BBL usually runs as a series, then maintenance. The session count and spacing are a consultation decision, made after we've seen your skin. It's a medical-grade treatment, performed under medical-director oversight, and it isn't only for faces: BBL can treat most areas of the body.

What to expect

From the first flash to the last flake

Modest downtime, a visible middle stage, and results that build on a rhythm you can plan around.

During the treatment itself, expect a run of quick, warm snaps across the skin. Most clients compare each one to the flick of a small rubber band: brisk, brief, over fast.

BBL comes with a few days of modest, visible downtime. Treated spots darken first, taking on a speckled, coffee-ground look, then flake away on their own over the following days. The more pigment you're treating, the more visible this stage is. It isn't the sheet-peeling of a chemical peel; the darkening is pigment surfacing before it sheds, and some clients see redness along the way.

What's left behind is the result: spots lighter, redness calmer, tone more even. The collagen side of BBL, firmer texture and softer fine lines, builds more slowly over a series, with maintenance sessions after to keep what you've gained. We set the number and spacing at your consultation.

One more thing we plan with you: sun. Freshly treated skin needs a break from direct Texas sun, so we schedule your sessions around your sun exposure rather than around a season.

    Shade, hats, and timing while your skin does its clearing.

  • Rest your strong actives

    Give them a few days off; your skin has repair work to do.

  • Do not pick the darkened spots

    Let them shed on their own. Picking risks scarring.

    Mild cleansing and steady hydration are all the treated skin needs from you.
